Time for Money!
This one week class is the only time this summer we will be offering a camp almost guaranteed to make telling time and change easy!! Students will learn fun tips and tricks that are the brainchild of Wired Minds' owner Barry Horst and former 2nd grade teacher. Thus, they're bound to be unique! (that's the nicest way we could think of saying it!) :)
Sum More Fun!! - 1st & 2nd graders - Part I
Some foundational math skills are non-negotiable. Knowing your addition and subtraction facts by heart is one of those essential skills that students will have after attending this camp!
Meeting M, T, W, Th, F from 9:00 - 2:00
This class for rising 1st and 2nd graders is taught by center owner Barry Horst who had his former 2nd grade class students completing over 60 addition problems in under a minute. While it took his students a few months of daily practice, they did in fact beat any volunteer that ever entered their classroom.
This class will have regular game breaks, a lunch break and a pool break throughout the day. We look forward to seeing the students in this class progress beyond their expectations!
This class will be cumulitive, however, it is not necessary that you attended Part I to participate in Part II or Part III
Only 6 students will be admitted into this class.
Please pack a lunch! (We have a fridge if it's needed, as well as a microwave!)
Sum More Fun!! - 1st & 2nd graders - Part II
Some foundational math skills are non-negotiable. That's why we are having THREE of these camps! It is absolutely vital that students have a solid mathematical foundation Knowing your addition and subtraction facts by heart is one of those essential skills.
Meeting M, T, W, Th from 9:00 - 2:00
We're continuing Part I because perfect practice makes perfect, and making that perfect practice fun makes it great!
Like the last one, we will be having regular game breaks, a lunch break and a pool break throughout the day. We look forward to seeing the students in this class progress beyond their expectations!
This class will be cumulitive, however, it is not necessary that you attended Part I to participate in Part II or Part III
Because of the intensity of this class, only 6 students will be admitted into this class.
Don't forget your lunch! (We have a fridge if it's needed, as well as a microwave!)
Sum More Fun!! - 1st & 2nd graders - Part III
Meeting M, T, W, Th from 9:00 - 2:00
Math that is second nature!? Sure!! Join us for this last installment of Sum More Fun!! and see!

Remember your lunch! (We have a fridge if it's needed, as well as a microwave!)
Reader Leaders - 2nd thru 5th graders
Reader Leaders - 2nd thru 5th graders

If you couldn't make the first Reader Leaders, fear not for our intrepid instructor, author, and generally amazing teacher, Christina has offered you a second class! If you had fun during the first course, this one will be just as great. Come for the first time, or come back because you never knew reading could be this great! We look forward to seeing you soon!
Making The Grade - 3rd & 4th Graders - Part I
Meeting M,T,W,Th,F from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
After working through the whole school year with different students in both 3rd and 4th grade we saw a patern in certain concepts that were most challenging for them. We created this camp for just those issues!!
This summer get a jump start on some of those difficult concepts so you can sail through, or polish the skills you already have!
Join us to learn about proper sentence structure, advanced and basic mathematical skills, and reading comprehension.
We will be taking an hour long break for games and a half hour for lunch. Smaller breaks will be had throughout the morning.
Watch learning become fun once again (even in the summer!!).
Making The Grade - 3rd & 4th Graders - Part II
Meeting M,T,W,Th,F from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
By this point, we've addressed some of the more common issues that face 3rd and 4th graders. This camp has been strategiclly placed so we can review those concepts and perhaps adress some not as pressing issues before school starts up again.
Again, we will have an hour long break for games and a half hour for lunch. Smaller breaks will be had throughout the morning.
If you thought you had fun the first go around, see what happens now that you know us!
Dividing Times - 3rd - 5th Graders
Don't let the opportunity to get smarter this summer slip by!
Meeting M, T, W, Th from 9:00 - 2:00
Foundations are key to building further knowledge. Students will learn strategies, skills, tips and tricks for mastering their number facts.
This class will be taught by one of our certified teachers who has the reputation of making math fun and exciting.
Only 8 slots are open for this class!
Fearless Fractions - 3rd - 5th graders
Whenever you have to find out how much of a tip to leave, think of how great it would be to have your student do it for you instead!
Meeting M, T, W, Th, F from 9:00 until 2:00 with game breaks, lunch break, and some crazy games outside every day!
This will be a great continuation to Dividing Times, or a wonderful stand alone camp!
By the end of the week, students will have learned how to find equivalent fractions, convert them into decimals, and convert them into percents. Typically we have seen 7th graders deal with these issues, but if you think of it, these are all skills that students going into 3rd, 4th and 5th grades already have. Let's get them ahead this week and watch them flourish in the coming years!!
Dividing Times & Fearless Fractions
M, T, W, Th, F
9am - 3pm
This is our only camp with a true prerequisite. Students must have completed at least one of:
Dividing Times, or Fearless Fractions in order to be accepted into this camp.
We will be reviewing many of the difficult concepts often reserved only for older students. Students in this class will not only stand out, but will also excel in school.
Join us for one last week of preperataion!
Elapsed Time & Measurement Conversion
9am - 1pm
There were a great deal of students who came to see us this year asking for help with these very subjects. While the concepts themselves are not all that difficult, they have a tendency to throw students for a loop! This one week course will help students go into the next school year with the confidence they need to crush any elapsed time or measurement problems!
Wordy Problems & Ratios n' Rates - 5th - 7th graders
Remember trying to get comfortable in one of those strangely small desks taking a test where not only did you have to worry about filling in the right bubbles in just the right way, but you also had to try to figure out how much Tom's 4th cat weighed if the average weight of all 5 of them was 12 lbs. As though that wasn't enough, you were asked to figure out how many different combinations there were for Andy, Beth, Carlos and Dorris to sit next to each other at the movies.
Believe it or not these kinds of questions, though seemingly pointless, are relatively easy to solve (and are big hitters on the SAT!). This week students will gain confidence knowing that they are able to solve word problems that are well above their pay grade, all while learning strategies for ALL word problems. On top of all that, they will learn how to figure out problems like these while having fun!
Students will have many game breaks, lunch and some intense games of Goomp Ball!!
Only 6 slots available.
Middle School Prep (single gender)
It has just so happened that of the SIX students who have already signed up for this camp, ALL of them are girls. We are now keeping one camp an all girls class, and opened another one for the same dates for boys!
Students going into middle school might feel a bit of angst, however, after meeting with Jean, the former guidance counselor at Northwood Middle School, students will learn a little of what is in store for them. Students will learn vital information to help them enter their school with confidence and knowledge.
Meeting M, T, W, Th, F from 9:00 - 2:00
Everyone fears the unknown, but school should be nothing to fear. Entering a whole new building with new teachers, and older students will be daunting enough, however, knowing some of the subject matter and what teachers will expect will help a lot. Join us for a week of setting our fears aside.
Only 8 students will be accepted, and only 2 slots left! (not to worry though we've opened up August 9-13)
Bite into Reading
ONE WEEK ONLY!
M, T, W, Th, F from 1pm-4pm
Rising 6th - 8th Graders
Join us for a week of Reading Theatre based on popular characters from well-known vampire books and movies. Bring your fangs and bite into word recognition, fluency and expression!
Write Right 6th - 9th Graders
