Summer is Coming

As the NSYNC song goes, “it’s gonna be May," so it’s time to brace for the end of the semester. I don't know about you, but sometimes it makes me anxious to think about the summer because there is so. much. to prepare for. Though I’m not a parent, I am a teacher and business owner, so there are still final exams, summer camp planning, spring cleaning, and maybe planning a fun weekend if I try hard and believe in myself. Any of this sounding familiar?
Here are tips and reminders to ease some of that anxiety as you head in May:
Designate a time for study skills with your students. It’s the last quarter, so let’s make it count! Big tests, papers, and projects are abounding, so if you can help give your student some structure by sitting down with them as they study or work, that may help both of you feel more at ease getting things done. It can feel overwhelming to start things we dread - even more so for kids! Creating manageable checklists, setting timers, and creating a focused environment to get work done can make a world of difference for your family. Not sure how to do that? Follow us on Instagram for study skill tips, or drop your student off at Wired Minds during the week from 3 - 6 for homework help.
Start signing up for activities now (and look for free stuff!) Things fill up quickly during the summer, so take just one hour this week to start planning if you haven't already, or use that hour to tie up loose ends so you’re less stressed! Kidding Around Greenville is a great place to find lists of free or low cost activities to keep your students occupied and having fun. It’s actually an 11 week summer this year since Greenville county doesn’t start back until August 11th (take a deep breath with me), so keep that in mind as you plan. Don't worry, we have camps for all 11 weeks.
Write down these dates so they don't sneak up on you!
May 15th is the last day to get summer camp early bird discounts at Wired Minds!
Greenville County graduations are May 19th - 23rd (we’re not crying, you are). There will probably be more traffic around these days.
May 22nd and 23rd (Thurs and Fri) are half days.
The first day of summer camp is May 27th (We’re closed on Monday for Memorial Day, so it’s a 4 day week)
Let your advice save you money. Email me with a suggestion of what you’d love to hear about, and you’ll get 10% off when you schedule a service of your choosing! (Tutoring session, After-School, Summer Camp). I want to send you content that is helpful and encouraging, so your feedback is essential to make that happen. You can email me at WeCare@WiredMindsTutoring.com.
Until next time,
Sara
